FAQs

What mediums and materials do you work with?

I work with acrylics, collage, oil pastel, watercolor, pencil, charcoal, china markers, ink blocks, ink… the list is long. I mainly create on paper and wood panels. I also work on canvas but not as frequently.

Paper has always been a passion of mine, the fragility is amazing as is the soft flexibility inherent to being created from pulp. I also love working on wood. It allows me to beat up the surface, to sand and scrape. It feels like furniture in a way, and I like that it feels solid and permanent.

What finishes do you use?

I provide an isolation coat of gloss medium and either a cold wax finish, applied in layers and buffed to have a matte sheen or a varnish.

What do I do if my favorite painting is sold?

That is the worst feeling, believe me it has happened to me! I suggest making sure you’re on my mailing list so you will be in the group that sees my newest work before they go live on Social or my website. Exclusive access has it’s rewards!

Can I order specific sizes?

Unfortunately my pieces are originals and can’t be copied to specific sizes. However if you’re interested in larger or smaller, simply email me and I’ll see if I have something not listed currently to show you. If I receive many requests for a particular size, that might be what I use for my next series. When in doubt just ask me!

What about framing?

Works on cradled wood or canvas will not be sold framed, for the most part. Many people prefer the modern look of no frame, but this again is personal to your home’s decor. Framing also adds to the weight and size of the piece and increases shipping costs. However I would be happy to discuss options if you’d like.

Some works on wood board will be sold in floater frames. This will be shown and addressed on the Shop page, so you will know what you’re getting. The frames are solid maple, 1 1/2″ depth and hand-finished by me.

If a work on paper is shown with a mat, one will be provided. Essentially, how the piece is pictured and how it is described will indicate if it’s framed, matted, both, or not at all.

Do you offer a payment plan?

I can offer a payment plan for a committed and serious client. I would need 50% down and of course I can’t ship it until it is full paid for. There would need to be a reasonable time frame as well, as I do have limited space in my studio. Please email me for more specifics.

Do you do commissions?

First and foremost I would love to make everyone happy beyond their expectations and so I’d like to say yes to all of them. But, because I am an intuitive artist, I need the freedom to chase down what the painting itself wants to be. I can’t force it in a direction and therefore neither can a collector. The painting itself tells me what it wants as we live and play together. So I am open to creating toward a specific size or end-point color pallet for a commissioned piece. But I can’t have an expected outcome from the blank “canvas”. Likewise, I can’t copy anyone else’s work and not even my own, so that”s off the table ;-). It never hurts to have a conversation about what you’re after, so drop me a line and we will see if we can work something out!
